The Best Vacations with Kids
So what ARE the best vacations with kids?
Well, the answer to that is probably as varied as people, their preferences and the amount of money you want to spend. But the long and short of it is that the best for the kids would be any that include spending quality time with their family. (Of course, this might not be the case for teens, but it many cases it still could be!) Many of the best kids vacations include new experiences, while some of the better ones could bring back memories of past experiences they've had.
Here are some ideas of great family vacations. Again, there are a gazillion other possibilities:
Going to an amusement park. Many are day trips, while many can be made into week or two-week trips! Disneyworld / Disneyland is one that captures the kids’ imaginations, but does the same for adults, too.Beach vacations / Lake vacations: Depending on how far you are from the beach or a lake, this could be a fantastic way to spend time with the family. Getting there can be all part of the experience. (I remember family trips where the focus of the trip was going the beach, but we made stops at historical sites on the way to break up the trip, but also to add more to the trip.) If you will be spending time in the sun with the kids, make sure you think about

Taking care of your kids' skin may not seem important now, but it will be very important to them later on!Snow skiing: If you enjoy getting on the slopes, this can be a great cold weather vacation with the children. Camping: This isn't for those who can't stomach being one with nature, but I've known many people who have very fond memories of camping with their family as kids.RVing: I haven't personally done this, but now-days, there are companies which rent rvs to those who want to go off and explore the countryside, without the need for a tightly planned itinerary.Sightseeing: Depending upon the part of the country you are in, this can be a great way to spend time with the kids, while educating them about their country and its history and terrain. Without camping or an rv, you might want to spend some time pre - planning stops before taking off.City-going or Farm-going: Spending some time exploring a different way of life can be a lot of fun. If you're used to the suburbia, maybe taking a trip into a big city, eating at some different restaurants, and taking in some great shows might be fun. Or head to a dude ranch and explore how cowboys herd, and earn their living on a daily basis. These ideas just scratch the surface of possibilities, but again, creating the best vacations with kids is about creating great memories and spending quality time with them that you can build on as parents. As I've said on another page, one of the best things I learned early on is that kids spell love, “t-i-m-e.” Young kids, and even pre - teens and teens do look for ways to connect with their parents. (Some teens less than others, and the older kids get the less “spending time” is really what most have in mind.) But connecting with your kids when on vacation is a good way to strengthen bonds with your kids and make…the BEST vacations with kids!
